Document camera
Visualisers unlike OHPs do not need specially prepared slides; they can show documents, books and any other item you wish to show.
Presentation tool
They can be used as overhead projectors and slide projectors but offering much better image quality. Apart from document material, and slides they can also show 3-dimensional objects in close-up detail.
Scanner
Visualisers can be used to transfer images to a computer which can then be saved in JPEG, TIF or BMP formats. This allows the visualizer to be used as a scanner for 3-dimensional objects as well as documents.
Network device
Visualisers can be used to transfer visual information across networks via LANs. This can be done enterprise-wide or via the internet.

Training & Education
Visualisers can be used to display images of books, experiments or any 3-dimensional objects, for example items which normally would be be passed around a class can instead be seen simultaneously by all students while the teacher describes and explains it. They can also be used in conjunction with interactive whiteboards so the visualiser can be turned into a fully interactive presentation tool, displaying and demonstrating objects, books, documents and slides.
Videoconferencing
By using the visualiser as a document camera; any type of object from paper based documents to 3-dimensional objects can be transferred over videoconferencing.
